Newark Father, Son Charged with Illegal Dumping

Police announced the arrest of a father and son, charged with illegal dumping last night.

According to authorities, shortly before 10 p.m., members of the Illegal Dumping Task Force observed two men unloading large amounts of debris from the rear of a U-Haul truck onto the sidewalk and street at Empire Street. The discarded items included household furniture and miscellaneous wood items.

Detectives from Illegal Dumping Task Force subsequently arrested Luis DeJesus, 58 and Juan DeJesus, 22, both of Newark, and charged them with Illegal Dumping and the Illegal Transport of Solid Waste. The vehicle used to transport the dumped materials was towed and is subject to seizure by forfeiture.

These charges are merely accusations. Each suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
