There were serious injuries reported for the victim of a shooting that occurred on a Newark street overnight.
According to preliminary reports, police responded to reports of shots fired that rang out in the single digit block of Elizabeth Avenue near Clinton/Avenue avenues at approximately 9:30 p.m.
Units arriving at the scene found two victims suffering injuries at that location.
According to reports, the first victim reportedly suffered several gunshot wounds and was rushed to University Hospital where we could only confirm serious injuries as of 4:42 a.m.
The second victim was a male in his early 60's suffering injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle but no gunshot wounds were apparent according to reports.
The extent of the man's injuries were unconfirmed as of 5 a.m.
Authorities have launched an active and ongoing investigation into the incident.
