The city of East Orange Police Department set up a crime scene on their side of the Newark border after a shots fired incident placed officers in a neighborhood to investigate.
According to preliminary reports, the shooting happened at approximately 12:50 a.m. at 11th Avenue and Hollywood where several rounds of gunfire rang out sending police from Newark and East Orange to that location.
A Shotsspotter activation alerted police of the shooting, but after officers canvassed the area, no victims were found.
Police recovered shell casings and other evidence during their investigation where the shooter remains at-large.
