Newark Detectives Identify Suspect in Shooting of 17-Year-Old Girl

A Newark woman is wanted by authorities after detectives identified her as the suspect in a shooting that left a 17-year-old girl injured in the city’s South Ward.
 

According to Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr., police responded to reports of a shooting at approximately 6 p.m. on March 24 in the area of South 6th Street and Cabinet Street.

 

Upon arrival, officers found a 17-year-old girl suffering from a gunshot wound. Investigators determined the victim had been involved in an altercation with a woman known to her before the shooting occurred.

 

The teen was transported to University Hospital for treatment and was reported to be in stable condition.

Following an investigation, detectives identified Annette Reyes, 36, of Newark, as the suspect. 

Authorities have since obtained a warrant charging Reyes with attempted murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

 

Police continue to search for Reyes as the investigation remains active and ongoing.
