The Newark Department of Public Safety’s Basketball Team, comprising police officers and firefighters, will face-off against the Weequahic High School Basketball Team and Alumni in a game to be held at Ronald G. Stone Community Gymnasium, Goldsmith Avenue in Newark, 2 p.m., Sunday, June 9th.
Officials say The Newark Public Safety Basketball Team holds a record of 9 and 1 for the 2019 season. The team, formed in late 2016, has played against Jersey City Police, East Orange Fire Department, Barringer High School Alumni, and others.
The free event will feature a marching band, music, poetry, food, prizes, and more.
Weequahic High School merchandise will be sold with proceeds supporting the school’s scholarship programs and student activities.
