Newark Couple Arrested for Alleged Drug Possession in Lyndhurst After Traffic Stop

Police in Lyndhurst took a couple and a teenaged boy into custody and charged them with possession of drugs after a traffic stop at a gas station on Monday.

According to a statement released by police, the driver of the vehicle Ms. Jasmine Karlsen, 40, of Newark illegally maneuvering around a congested gas station parking lot in a 2008 Ford Taurus when police spotted her driving on the sidewalk.

Police say during the traffic stop near the DeJessa Bridge, one of the officers reported smelling marijuana inside the vehicle that was occupied by two male passengers.

According to Lyndhurst Police officials, a further investigation indicated marijuana inside the vehicle and in possession of the juvenile.

Police took the teen and Mr. Angel Garcia, 44, of Newark into custody and charged with drug possession.

The incident remains under investigation.
