Newark Cop Transported to Hospital After Cruiser T-boned by Tractor Trailer

A Newark Officer was injured after his police vehicle was struck by a tractor-trailer this morning.

According to police, shortly after 11 a.m., Newark police and firefighters responded to the 800-block of Doremus Avenue on a call of a motor vehicle collision.

A preliminary investigation revealed that as the officer exited a driveway in the area, a tractor-trailer t-boned the police vehicle causing damage to the driver-side door and front left fender damage to the cruiser.

The male officer complained of pain and was transported to University Hospital for evaluation and treatment.

The tractor-trailer driver remained on the scene and was unharmed, according to police.

Police added that the investigation is ongoing and no summonses have been issued as a result of this incident.
