Newark Central Ward Car Crash Under Investigation

Firefighters used 'The Jaws of Life' to cut a person out of a car that was involved in a crash in Newark's Central Ward on Sunday night.

The violent crash happened near the intersection of Prince Street and 18th Avenue at approximately 6:15 p.m. sending a host of emergency responders to the scene where they arrived to find two severely damaged vehicles with trapped and injured occupants inside.

Crews used several tools to cut at least one person from a vehicle that was trapped inside a car according to reports.

At least two victims were rushed to University Hosiptal in serious conditon.

One of the vehicles involved in the crash was reported stolen but it is not immediately clear if Newark Police was in pursuit during the crash.

The official cause of the crash remains under investigation.
