Newark Car Crash Leaves Woman Critical

A car that crashed then burst into flames on a Newark street has a woman fighting for her life this morning in the city.

Emergency responders rushed to the vicinity of Frelinghuysen Avenue and East Runyon Street at approximately 2:55 a.m. after they received reports of a car crash with possible trapped occupants.

Firefighters arrived at the scene and found a fully involved car fire after the collision that had two vehicles.

Crews were able to get the badly injured woman out of the vehicle then hand her over to University Hospital EMS units who rushed her to the hospital.

EMS transported two other victims to the hospital suffering non-life threatening injuries according to on-scene reports.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Newark Police Department.
