An overnight burglary into a building in Newark's South Ward had police arrest at least one person.
Police received reports of a burglary in progress that was underway in or around the vicinity of 802 Bergen Street at around 12:45 a.m. where officers arrived and observed a suspect attempting to make an unlawful entry into a commercial establishment.
The suspect reportedly fled the scene on foot, but police apprehended the male a short distance away.
A police officer received treatment after suffering a non-life threatening hand injury during the incident.
The incident remains under investigation by Newark Police.
