Newark, Bloomfield Men Plead Not Guilty in Killing of Ana Satian

Two men entered not guilty pleas this morning to charges of fatally shooting a Newark woman during a cell phone robbery.

During their arraignment, Munition Marrow, 21, and Perry Howard, 28, of Newark entered their pleas to the fatal shooting of Ana Satian, 22.

Two other defendants - Lauren Whatley, 25, and Massai Laboo, 23 - are awaiting for their scheduled arraignments. On May 29, all four defendants were indicted on murder, felony murder and robbery and weapons offenses.

Marrow and Whatley are being held at the Essex County Correctional Facility in lieu of $750,000 bail each.

Howard is being held in lieu of $1 million bail and Laboo on a $300,000 bail.

Superior Court Judge Ronald Wigler ordered defendants to return to court on Sept. 9 to allow attorneys sufficient time to review evidence.

The shooting occurred on November 8, when Satian was visiting a friend's house on 3rd Street when at least two of the defendants approached her, taking her cellphone and subsequently shooting her.

Satin was pronounced dead at University Hospital leaving two young children behind.
