Newark Arson Detectives Investigate Apartment Fire in Newark High-Rise

A late night fire inside a high rise building in Newark has fire officials investigating the exact cause of the blaze.

According to a statement released by Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose, members of the Newark Fire Division extinguished the two-alarm fire in an 18th Floor apartment at 25 Clifton Avenue (Pavilion and Colonnade Apartments).

Director Ambrose said multiple fire division companies responded to the fire, that was contained in an apartment on the 18th floor of the Clifton Avenue high rise at 8:22 pm.

Crews were able to swiftly knock down the blaze before they searched the apartment for trapped and injured occupants.

Director Ambrose said, the apartment was rented, but no one was inside the residence apartment at the time.

The American Red Cross assisted displaced family.

The cause and nature of the fire remains under investigation by the Newark Fire Division’s Arson Unit.
