Newark Armed Robbery Suspect Apprehended

Authorities announced the arrest of Johnny L. Mitchell, 46, of Newark, for an armed robbery that occurred on Wednesday, July 19th.

According to police, sometime around 4 p.m., officers responded to Rite Aid, located at 104 12th Avenue, after a store employee observed a man remove items from the store’s shelves and leave the store without paying. When the suspect, who was armed with a knife, was confronted he fled the store.

Detectives developed sufficient evidence to identify Johnny L. Mitchell as the suspect in this armed robbery. Police arrested Mitchell yesterday and charged with robbery.

This charge is merely an accusation. The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
