Newark

Police in Newark are on the search for a suspect who is wanted for an armed carjacking in the city Tuesday night.

According to preliminary reports, police were called to the 300 block of South 7th Street after receiving reports of a vehicle crashed into a building.

Police arrived at the scene and found the crashed car which was secondary to a reported carjacking at that location.

Authorities say a suspect riding in a white BMW, occupied by other males, jumped out of the vehicle then robbed the victim before taking his white Toyota Venza with a reported NJ license plate number "K61-KBV".

According to reports, the driver of the white BMW attempted to speed from the scene then crashed into a building causing the car to slam into a utility pole ultimately.

The suspect -the driver- then jumped from the damaged vehicle and ran down the block where he entered the carjacked vehicle while the driver waited for him according to reports.

There were no serious physical injuries to the victim.

The suspects remain at-large.
