The ceremony will mark a rare moment in state history, as gubernatorial inaugurations are typically held in Trenton.

Only a small number of New Jersey governors have taken the oath of office outside the state capital.

Sherrill’s swearing-in will follow her victory over her Republican opponent in the November election, securing her place as the state’s next governor after a competitive campaign focused largely on affordability and government accountability.

Among the first priorities outlined by Governor Sherrill is addressing rising utility costs.

She has stated that her administration will take immediate steps to review utility rate increases and explore options to slow or pause future hikes while the state examines long-term energy and cost solutions.

Her broader energy plans include expanding in-state power generation and increasing oversight of utility providers.

Sherrill has also indicated plans to streamline state government operations, improve transparency, and focus on practical issues affecting residents, including housing affordability and public safety.
