New Jersey State Trooper Dies after Battle with Cancer

New Jersey State Police released the following:

”It is with great sadness that the New Jersey State Police announces the passing of Lieutenant Jason Innella #5605, who died on April 27 after a year-long battle with cancer. He was 48 years old.

Lt. Innella joined the New Jersey State Police on October 3, 1997 as a member of the 117th State Police Class and served for 23 years in various assignments throughout the Division.

For more than 15 years, Lt. Innella was assigned to the Special Operations Section where he served as a member of the TEAMS Unit. As a supervisor, Lt. Innella was a strong advocate for tactical training and was always looking for ways to improve the operations of the unit with the ultimate goal of the safety and well-being of its members.

Most recently, Lt. Innella served as the Operations Officer for the Marine Services Bureau. He also held other assignments within the Field Operations Section and the Regional Operations & Intelligence Center Section.

Lt. Innella is survived by his his wife Amy and their two sons; Anthony and Michael.
