New Jersey Man Killed in Atlantic City Sunday Night

Authorities in Atlantic City announced that on January 7, 2024, at approximately 10:06 p.m., the Atlantic City Police Department received a ShotSpotter alert for multiple gunshots in the area of the 1100 block of Monroe Avenue.

Officers arrived at the scene and located two individuals with gunshot wounds, and Kevin Gayle Jr., 37, of Marmora, was unresponsive with a gunshot wound, officials stated.AdOfficials say he was transported to AtlantiCare Medical Center, city division, where he was pronounced deceased.

Lyndon Russell Jr., 24, of Atlantic City, was also located with a gunshot wound, according to officials. 

Authorities say he was transported to AtlantiCare Medical Center, city division, where he was treated and admitted to the hospital.

The cause and manner of death for Gayle is pending an autopsy by the South Regional Medical Examiner’s Office, officials said.

Officials say this incident is being investigated by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office’s Major Crimes Unit and the Atlantic City Police Department Violent Crimes Unit.
