New Jersey Anniversary Celebration

New Jersey

By: O.L./Sway Buckley

Our 14th anniversary was one for the books.

Since last year, we had a great time at our first bed and breakfast in Vermont. At the last minute, we decided to explore what that might be like here in New Jersey.

Q4 Masterclass

We found a historic home, nearly 200 years old, that now was a modern-day bed and breakfast but still held its Victorian luxe feel with classic finishings. The Neighbor House in Long Valley was the perfect place for the perfect getaway.

The hosts, Rafi and Iris, have truly been called to host guests. The hospitality and thoughtful details were standout. They went above and beyond to be sure we felt comfortable. In fact, Iris made homemade almond milk, almond butter, and peanut butter for us. It was delicious!

They also introduced us to Moroccan tea with fresh spearmint from the garden. The best!

The home sits next to several hundred acres of hillside that are permanently protected for agriculture. Peaceful isn’t even the word- but it was.

Team Robinsons

On our trip, we also visited Alstede farms and went pepper, apple, peach, and berry picking all in one. The staff was exceptional, too! We were transported in their onsite tractors since the farm is humongous.

That was an experience within itself.

We also did light hiking at Hacklebarney State Park. It was serene and quiet, with water running through the park being the only background sound.

On our actual anniversary (9/5), we decided to have a couples massage (since it's been too long). We tried out Lily's Day Spa.

It started off a bit of a rocky experience, and just when we were going to cancel our services and walk out, Faith (the front desk rep) saved the sale. Quick business lesson: It's essential to have team members who understand customer service interface with clients.

Success-Mapping CallWe had a hot stone massage (a complimentary bonus) that we thoroughly enjoyed. I'm glad we stayed.

One of the best parts of our four-day trip was ending it with a healthy conversation about our marriage and this next season. It was a beautiful time. The convo was an extension of our routine legacy meetings.
