Authorities in Middlesex County are searching for a vehicle believed to be connected to a hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of a 38-year-old New Brunswick man Sunday evening.

According to information released by Middlesex County Prosecutor Linda Estremera and New Brunswick Police Chief Vincent Sabo, officers responded to the intersection of Remsen Avenue and Seamen Street at approximately 7:23 p.m. on October 18, following reports of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.

Upon arrival, officers found Naim Chirino, 38, of New Brunswick, suffering from injuries sustained in the collision.

Chirino was rushed to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Investigators said the driver involved in the crash fled the scene before police arrived.

Detectives have since identified a vehicle of interest described as a silver 2011 Kia Soul bearing New Jersey license plate M32VNN.

Authorities are working to locate the vehicle and identify the driver involved.

Anyone with information about the crash or the vehicle’s whereabouts is urged to contact Detective James Barnes of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office at 732-745-3437.
