New Brunswick Man Charged with Murder

Middlesex County officials announced today that Joe Williams, 38, of New Brunswick, has been arrested and charged with the murder of Cedric Paige, 37, also of New Brunswick.

According to county officials, on September 26, at approximately 1:50 a.m., authorities responded to Fernwood Court following the report of a shooting. 

County officials said that upon their arrival, officers located Paige, who sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Paige was transported from the scene to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

According to officials, on September 28, Williams was arrested by members of the New Brunswick Police Department, the Woodbridge Police Department, and the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office and charged with one count of first-degree murder and one count of second-degree possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose.

Officials said that at present, the shooting does not appear to be a random act. 

The investigation is active and continuing.
