EMS transported a firefighter to an area hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries after fighting a fire that ignited in a building in East Orange Wednesday morning.
The fast-moving fire had residents at 307 Williams Street grab several personal items before they evacuated the four-story brick building.
Fast responding East Orange firefighters were able to find the seat of the fire and get the blaze under control in under an hour after smoke filled the building.
Officials say there were no trapped or injured residents located and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
NJ Transit sent a bus to the scene to keep residents warm while the American Red Cross provided temporary housing for residents.
According to officials, the East Orange Fire Captain was taken to University Hospital, where he is expected to make a full recovery.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
