Nearly Two Dozen Displaced in Irvington Township Fire

A fire that broke out inside a house on 19th Street in Irvington prompted a rapid response from firefighters and assistance from the American Red Cross Sunday afternoon. 

According to police, the incident, which occurred around 4:10 p.m. near Grove Street, affected five families, totaling 22 individuals.

Upon receiving reports of the fire, firefighters raced to the scene and quickly acted to contain the flames.

Their prompt action helped prevent injuries, but unfortunately, the building sustained severe damage in the process.

A statement released by American Red Cross officials confirmed that their disaster volunteers swiftly arrived on-site to provide essential assistance to those affected.

The Red Cross offered emergency aid, including provisions for food, temporary lodging, clothing, and other immediate needs, ensuring that the displaced families received the support necessary during this difficult time.

Irvington fire officials are diligently investigating the cause of the fire to determine its origin.
