Nearly a Dozen Shell Casings Recovered in Newark South Orange Avenue Shooting

Newark

Newark Police officers recovered nearly a dozen shell casings in a shooting incident in a section of the city Saturday.

In one of about six shots fired incidents that gripped several neighborhoods in Newark, in less than 24-hours, gunmen produced weapons in the area of South Orange Avenue between 9th and 10th Street on Christmas day.

Police arrived on the scene and taped the area off after they located just under a dozen shell casings.

Cops searched the area for victims, but there were no immediate reports of injuries.

The suspects fled the scene and remain at large.

Residents living near the liquor store side of South 10th Street said the area hasn't changed in decades as open-air drug sales are rampant.

Newark Police officials have not reported arrests for any of the shootings at this time.
