New Jersey continues to deal with the a powerful winter blizzard, with approximately 59,000 homes and businesses without electricity as of Monday.
The majority of outages are concentrated in shore and coastal communities, where heavy snow and fierce winds created some of the most severe conditions overnight.
The combination of double-digit snowfall totals and sustained winds exceeding 35 mph — with gusts nearing 45 mph — led to downed trees and power lines across several counties.
Blowing and drifting snow have further complicated restoration efforts, making access to certain neighborhoods difficult for crews.
According to outage tracking systems from major providers including Public Service Electric and Gas Company (PSE&G), Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L), and Atlantic City Electric, coastal areas are reporting some of the highest outage totals.
Utility companies say crews are working extended shifts in hazardous conditions to restore service as quickly and safely as possible.
However, officials caution that full restoration could take time due to blocked roadways, continued wind gusts, and ongoing cleanup efforts.
Residents without power are urged to operate generators outdoors and away from homes, avoid downed wires, and check on elderly neighbors or vulnerable individuals who may be without heat.

We will continue to monitor outage numbers and restoration progress as New Jersey works through what is expected to be a long and challenging dig-out.
