Trenton

Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri reported that a two-month investigation by the Mercer County Narcotics Task Force concluded Monday with one arrest and the seizure of approximately $7,500 in cocaine.

According to authorities, at approximately 7:15 p.m. Monday, the target of the investigation, Raymond Brooks, 50, was observed exiting his residence and entering his vehicle.

Officers with the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office, and the Hamilton and Trenton police, under the command of the prosecutor’s Special Investigations Unit, conducted a motor vehicle stop and took Brooks into custody without incident. A search warrant was simultaneously executed at his Clearfield Avenue apartment, where officers seized 70 grams of powder cocaine, five grams of crack cocaine and $826 in cash.

Officials charge Brooks with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession with the intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia and was released pending future court appearances.

Despite having been charged, every defendant is presumed innocent until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
