Several cars were left damaged and one overturned after a late-night crash in Newark’s South Ward on Thursday.
Authorities said the collision occurred around 11:15 p.m. near 876 South 14th Street, where multiple 911 calls reported a serious accident.
Police and emergency crews arrived to find a chaotic crash scene and immediately requested Rescue 1 due to concerns that someone may have been trapped inside one of the vehicles.
Responders determined that no occupants were trapped, but one of the drivers involved reportedly fled the scene before police could make contact.
That individual remains at large.
Despite the extensive damage, including the overturned vehicle, officials confirmed that no serious injuries were immediately reported. 
The incident remains under investigation as police work to track down the driver who fled.
