Multi-Vehicle Crash Injures Two in Elizabeth

A Thursday afternoon crash remains under investigation after it sent two drivers to the hospital.

According to city officials, officers

responded to the intersection of Sheridan Avenue and Virginia Street sometime around 4:30 p.m. for a report of a crash.

Upon arrival, officers spoke to a male driver who claimed to have stopped at the stop sign on Sheridan Avenue but as he proceeded his vehicle struck a vehicle coming down Virginia Street.

The female driver of the car ultimately lost control striking a parked vehicle and continued onto the sidewalk where she hit a tree.

Both drivers were transported to the hospital after the male driver complained of pain while unidentified female driver suffered a head injury.

Officials added, that the female driver has since been sedated and police are waiting for her to come out of sedation so they can interview her.

The incident remains under investigation, and until police can communicate with the female driver, they are checking businesses and homes for anyone who might have caught the crash on surveillance.

No summons have been issued as of yet.
