Police in Newark are investigating a multi-vehicle crash that sent several people to the hospital early Saturday morning.
The North Ward crash happened in the vicinity of Chester Avenue and McCarter Highway at approximately 2:10 a.m. where several 911 calls alerted police of a collision with injuries at that location.
Emergency responders and rescue crews arrived to find about three vehicles involved with three victims suffering various injuries according to preliminary reports.
Police say one of the victims -a male- was ejected from cars and suffered severe injuries during the crash.
All of the patients were taken to University Hospital where doctors began treating their injuries.
The cause of the crash has not been determining.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
