Multi-Alarm Fire Displaces 20 Residents in Paterson

Arson investigators from Paterson are looking into a multi-alarm fire that tore through several buildings in the city on Wednesday night.

According to fire officials, heavy fire tore through two building located at 1005-1007 Madison Avenue at approximately 5 p.m. sending firefighters to the scene where they encountered heavy fire and thick smoke coming from a building that has a T-Mobile store on the bottom level.

Fire officials called as many as four alarms after flames tore through the roof of one of the building and began to extend to neighboring homes.

City officials say about twenty-people were displaced but there were no injuries reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
