Multi-Alarm Fire Detsroys Warehouse in Kenilworth

Kenilworth

Firefighters continued to battle a stubborn multi-alarm fire hours after it started in Kenilworth.

According to fire officials, the call went out around 1:10 a.m. Sunday for smoke showing from a large building near 123 North 8th Street.

Officials say upon arrival, firefighters observed massive flames coming from a warehouse and struck three-alarms and multiple companies responded, including mutual aid from surrounding towns.

Crews were able to get water on the flames to stop extensions to other structures, but thick smoke and intense flames stopped firefighters from immediately getting inside the metal fabrication factory.

Officials say firefighters were able to get the fire under control and a search of the building indicated no trapped or injured occupants.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
