The New Jersey State Police Fugitive Unit coordinated a joint fugitive sweep that led to the arrest of 55 people on warrants in Passaic and Essex Counties last week.
Of the 55 people arrested, 12 were identified as street gang members.
The three-day initiative took place on June 16 in Paterson, June 17 in Irvington, and June 18 in Newark.
It identified persons wanted on various warrants for crimes including aggravated assault, sex assault, weapons offenses, burglary, CDS offenses, and municipal violations. Once arrested, the defendants were processed and lodged in county jails.
