Authorities are investigating a serious early morning crash on the eastern spur of the New Jersey Turnpike that left a motorcyclist severely injured.

According to preliminary information from New Jersey State Police, the incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. near Exit 15X in Secaucus.
Emergency responders were quickly dispatched after receiving 911 calls reporting a crash involving a motorcycle.
Upon arrival, first responders found the rider down on the roadway suffering from what was described as a serious head injury.
The victim was transported to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment and is currently listed in serious condition.
No additional injuries were reported, and it is believed that no other vehicles were involved.
The exact cause of the crash remains under investigation by NJ State Police. Eastbound traffic in the area experienced temporary delays as crews worked the scene.

Authorities have not released the identity of the injured motorcyclist at this time.
