Motorcycle Carjacking Suspect Sought by Newark Police

Authorities in Newark seeks the public’s help identifying a suspect wanted for a carjacking that occurred earlier today.

According to Newark Police officials, at approximately 4 p.m., police responded to 71 Hobson Street on the report of a carjacking.

Police said a male motorcycle driver was approached by the driver of a Mercedes Benz, who struck the victim with a gun and took his motorcycle.

The suspect, unable to start the bike, returned to the Mercedes Benz and fled the scene.

The victim did not suffer life threatening injuries police said.

While police are actively seeking the suspect, they seek the public’s assistance in quickly locating and removing him from city streets.

Police said the investigation is continuing.
