A mother and her newborn child are in good condition after the woman delivered the baby inside a Newark North Ward home late Monday night.
According to officials, police and EMS were called to a home in the 600 block of North 5th Street after receiving reports of a woman going into labor just before 11:30 p.m.
When police arrived at the three-story multi-family building, they found the woman in the process of giving birth to a baby and requested EMS in a rush.
Police officers assisted the woman until EMS arrived at the scene and transported the woman and baby to the hospital.
There were no immediate reports of injuries or complications.
