Mother, Daughter Identified as Victims in Montgomery Township Double Homicide-Suicide

Somerset County

Authorities in Somerset County have identified a mother and daughter found shot to death inside a Montgomery Township home in what investigators have ruled a double homicide-suicide.

According to information released by Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald, the victims were identified as 62-year-old Lora Grodnick and her 24-year-old daughter, Sloane Grodnick.

Both women died from gunshot wounds to the head, and their deaths were ruled homicides following examinations by the Northern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.

Authorities identified the deceased male as 61-year-old David Grodnick, Lora’s husband and Sloane’s father.

Officials said David Grodnick died from a gunshot wound to the head, and his death was ruled a suicide.

The three were discovered inside a residence on Wild Azalea Lane after Montgomery Township Police initially responded Thursday, October 1, for a welfare check.

After officers were unable to contact the occupants, an investigation was launched. Police entered the home at approximately 5:52 p.m. Friday and found Lora and Sloane Grodnick deceased in separate bedrooms.

David Grodnick was also found deceased inside the residence with a firearm in his possession, according to authorities.

The Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office said the investigation remains ongoing but determined the deaths were an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public.
