According to a statement from the Morristown Police Department, officers were dispatched just before 1:10 a.m. to the 30 block of Walker Avenue following a report that a person was barricaded inside a residence and possibly holding hostages.

The initial report also claimed the individual was suffering from a gunshot wound, which heightened concern and led to a significant law enforcement presence.

When officers arrived and conducted a thorough investigation, they found no barricaded person, no hostages, and no evidence of anyone being injured.

Police later determined the call was likely a false or “swatting” type incident.

The situation was cleared at the scene without further incident.
