Authorities in Morris County reported a situation that prompted a lockdown at Mount Olive High School has been resolved.

Prosecutor Robert J. Carrol said at about 10:30 a.m. on April 19, the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office was notified by the Mount Olive Police of a possible school threat.

According to Prosecutor Carroll, the Mount Olive Police was made aware of the theft of a motor vehicle out of Roxbury Township and a potential threat to Mount Olive High School.

The Mount Olive Police Department, with the assistance of the Morris County Sheriff’s  Office initiated an investigation, while officials say an alert was put out for the stolen vehicle.

As a result, Mount Olive High School was placed into lockdown, and a security perimeter was established. Other Mount Olive schools were placed into shelter-in-place.

Later that day, a New Jersey State Police officer pulled over a vehicle on Garden State Parkway near exit 64 and confirmed that it was stolen from Roxbury officials said.

The two occupants, an 18-year-old and a 17-year-old juvenile, were taken into custody without incident, authorities say.

Officials reported once it was determined that there was no threat, the Mount Olive High School lockdown was lifted at about 1 p.m.

The investigation remains ongoing; as of Wednesday afternoon, no charges have been filed against the two occupants.

According to officials, there is no danger to the community.
