In recognition of National Crime Victims’ Rights Week 2022, members of the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office will join leaders of the law enforcement and victim advocate community on April 28 for a virtual conference to discuss how to best help the victims of crime.
The virtual conference will not be open to the public. Following the event, the program will be available for viewing on the Morris County Government YouTube page.
Speakers will include Anthony DeVincenzo, M.A., a retired lieutenant from the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office who is currently a Training Specialist with the Northeast Regional Children’s Advocacy Center.
Additionally, speaking at the event will be a victim of domestic violence.
Marking its 41st anniversary this year, Congress annually declares one week in April as Crime Victims’ Rights Week to honor and recognize crime victims.
National Crime Victims’ Rights Week is being observed from April 24-30.
This year's theme is “Rights, Access, and Equity for all Victims.”
The theme underscores the importance of enforcing victim rights, expanding access to services, and ensuring equity and inclusion for all victims.
National Crime Victims’ Rights Week is intended to raise awareness of victims' rights and services, highlight programs, celebrate progress achieved, and honor victims, the professionals, and the agencies who serve them.
As a visual reminder, the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office has a lit tree outside of the Administration & Records Building in honor of all victims of crime in Morris County.
In keeping with this year’s theme, Morris County Prosecutor Robert Carroll dedicated a stepping stone near the tree as a symbol for victims taking the first step to healing.
Serving as a small beacon of hope, a wreath adorned with a “2022 in Recognition and Remembrance” ribbon has been placed next to the tree.
The Morris County Prosecutor’s Office’s social media channels will post daily resources containing information to assist victims of crime and the community at large regarding substance use disorder, mental health & suicide prevention, domestic violence, and other topics.
