Morris County Celebrates Graduation of 10 New Correctional Police Officers in Newark Ceremony

Ten new correctional police officers are beginning their careers in Morris County following their graduation from the Essex County Police Academy, according to information released by county officials.

The recruits, members of County Corrections Police Officer Class 25-3, completed 19 weeks of intensive training after entering the academy on December 12, 2025. 

 

The program included physical conditioning, classroom instruction, unarmed defense, CPR and first responder certification, firearms training, and other specialized coursework.

 

The graduation ceremony was held at St. Lucy’s Church, where family members, friends, and academy staff gathered to recognize the accomplishments of the class.

Morris County Sheriff James M. Gannon praised the graduates and the correctional facility administration team for guiding the recruits through the demanding training process.

 

The newly graduated officers include Vincent Barba, who earned the Firearms Award, along with Cameron Bascomb, Keegan Carvajal, John Coleman, Corey Dempster, Kenny Elysee, Shaquille Gould, Jacob Nelson, Destiny Neuberger, and David VanWinkle.

Officials wished the class success as they move forward into public service roles, emphasizing the responsibility and dedication required to serve the residents of Morris County.
