Morning Fog, Milder Temps Greet North Jersey as Storm Clears

Newark

By: Richard L. Smith

After an overnight storm dampened the region, Newark and the North Jersey area are waking up to calmer, cooler conditions this Friday morning, providing a more comfortable close to the week.

As of 4:30 a.m., many early commuters across the region are experiencing patchy fog and low visibility, especially in lower-lying areas.

The roads are still damp from last night’s rain, and a muggy feeling lingers in the air. Clouds are hanging low over much of the Newark skyline, but there’s good news ahead.

According to the National Weather Service, conditions are expected to gradually improve, with partly cloudy skies, breezy winds, and drier air moving in throughout the day.

While not completely clear, Friday’s weather looks favorable for outdoor plans or afternoon activities.

Today: Patchy fog before 8 a.m., then mostly sunny skies, with a high near 81°F. Winds will shift southeast at 9 to 14 mph, with gusts reaching up to 25 mph.

Tonight: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm are likely before 2 a.m., followed by a chance of lighter showers. Patchy fog may develop after 2 a.m. with increasing clouds and lows around 66°F.

Residents are advised to be cautious during the morning commute due to reduced visibility. Otherwise, enjoy the mild break from the more intense summer heat as we transition toward a more autumn-like pattern heading into the weekend.
