A 21-year-old Montclair man has been charged in connection with the theft of two luxury vehicles stolen from a Summit automobile dealership, according to information released by the Summit Police Department.


Police said the investigation began on Wednesday, June 24, after officers were notified at approximately 10:17 a.m. that two vehicles—a 2022 Infiniti Q50 and a 2023 Infiniti Q50—had been stolen from the dealership during the overnight hours of June 22.
Members of the Summit Police Department Detective Bureau immediately launched an investigation and quickly tracked the stolen vehicles to separate locations.
One of the vehicles was recovered in Queens, New York, while detectives and patrol officers located the second vehicle in Linden and recovered it without incident.
As the investigation continued, detectives identified Nelson Clermont, 21, of Montclair, as one of the individuals allegedly involved in the theft.
Clermont has been charged with conspiracy to commit motor vehicle theft, receiving stolen property, theft of a motor vehicle, and receiving a stolen motor vehicle.
According to police, Clermont voluntarily surrendered to the Summit Police Department on June 30. After being processed on the charges, he was transported to the Union County Jail, where he is being held pending his first appearance in Superior Court.
The investigation remains ongoing.
