A 67-year-old Montclair man was arrested following a violent altercation that left another man injured near the Bloomfield border on April 27, authorities said.
According to preliminary information, an officer patrolling the area of Church Street and South Fullerton Avenue observed two adult males engaged in a physical fight.
After breaking up the altercation, the officer found the victim, a 33-year-old Montclair resident, suffering from lacerations to his face, neck, and stomach.
Authorities said the suspect was seen holding a folding knife and was ordered to drop the weapon, which he did without further incident.
Both individuals provided conflicting accounts regarding what led to the confrontation.
Emergency medical personnel from Bloomfield treated the victim at the scene before transporting him to Mountainside Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault and weapons possession.
The incident remains under investigation.
