Freehold Township authorities are looking into the motive behind a shots-fired incident that occurred Wednesday morning.
Police said gunfire erupted on Center Street around 2:30 a.m., prompting a police response to the area.
When officers arrived, they found evidence that a shooting occurred, but no victims were found after police searched the neighborhood.
Several shell casings were recovered during the officer's search of the area.
The suspect fled the scene and has not been apprehended.
