The mom of a 2-year-old child found dead yesterday inside a Jersey City apartment is facing charges, according to the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office.
Police responded to 407 Union Street shortly after noon for reports of a possible death.
Upon arrival, authorities found the unidentified child who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause and manner of death remains under investigation.
Based on preliminary investigation, Tracey Mitchell, 23, was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, a second degree crime, and child abuse, a fourth degree crime.
Mitchell's bail was set at $150,000 cash or bond.
