Mizpah Volunteer Fire Company Members Charged with Theft, Official Misconduct, Conspiracy

Two members of the Mizpah Volunteer Fire Company are charged with official misconduct, conspiracy and theft, following the execution of a search warrant on Tuesday at the Mizpah Volunteer Fire Company in Hamilton Township, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner announced.

Members of the Township of Hamilton Police Department, on September 29, executed a Search and Seizure Warrant at the Mizpah Volunteer Fire Company in Hamilton Township.

According to officials, this official misconduct and theft investigation of Mizpah Volunteer Fire Company members is connected to allegations of the creation of unauthorized accounts at NAPA Auto Parts, using the Mizpah Volunteer Fire Company funds and tax-exempt status.

As a result of the investigation, Craig Paxton, 38, and Jay Davenport, 38, have been charged with Official Misconduct, Theft and Conspiracy.

These charges are merely an accusation and not proof of guilt. In all criminal cases, a charged defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
