Police reconnected a child who was reported missing during the early morning hours in Newark's South Ward.
According to a preliminary investigation, the parents of a 5-year-old reported the child missing to police shortly before 12:30 a.m.
Officers in the city's South Ward searched several neighborhoods in the area around Shepard Avenue then located the child on Osborne Terrace, according to reports.
Police say the child was immediately returned home and the investigation remains active.
There were no injuries reported.
