"Police woke me up at around 3 a.m. and informed me but I couldn't believe it. I fought a war in Afghanistan and Iraq and definitely didn't expect a fight to secure my vehicle from thieves every night" (Vehicle Owner)
An Army veteran whose vehicle was stolen earlier in the week but returned later that day, had the same vehicle taken again late last night and destroyed in a crash when several suspects attempted to flee a police involved shooting in Newark.

Thieves stole the veteran's 2012 grey Dodge Charger from his home on Wednesday night in the 40's block of Adams Street in Irvington.
According to the Army veteran, the vehicle was self-retrieved hours later on Smith Street in Newark.
In one full week, the vehicle was taken again and used as a possible escape vehicle during the police shooting that had an Irvington police officer (who was also investigating a vehicle stolen from a family member) approach a suspect who begin to fire gunshots at the officer.
After an exchange of gunfire between the officer and the suspect, the suspect ran from the scene, jumping into the Charger where he sped off at a high rate of speed. The vehicle came to a crashing halt a short distance away.
Authorities are searching for the suspects.
