Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill visited Irvington on May 22 for a working lunch with Mayor Tony Vauss as part of her campaign for Governor of New Jersey.

The meeting, held at 1:30 p.m., focused on local concerns, including persistent flooding in the township and broader state-level priorities such as affordable housing, public safety, and education.

Sherrill reaffirmed her commitment to securing federal support for towns like Irvington that are facing infrastructure and economic challenges.

Her visit follows recent appearances at the township’s State of the Township Address and a local Mother’s Day carnival, highlighting her longstanding engagement with the community.

Sherrill has received endorsements from several key local leaders, including Irvington Democratic Chairwoman Annette Beasley, State Senator Renee Burgess, and Essex County Commissioner Romaine Graham Sermons.

With the Democratic primary approaching in June, Sherrill continues to position herself as a unifying figure, pledging to represent all New Jersey communities and counter divisive national politics.
