Newark

Newark and much of the North Jersey region are waking up to 37 degrees this Wednesday morning. It’s cold but dry to start the day, and temperatures are expected to stay above freezing.

Good morning to everyone heading out early,  whether you’re at the bus stop, on your way to work, or getting in that early gym session.

While it’s brisk, we’re not dealing with the deep freeze we’ve seen in recent weeks.

Tuesday’s push toward 50 degrees helped melt much of the lingering snow, and conditions across much of Essex County have improved.

There are still some patches around, but overall, the region is looking clearer.

Changes are on the way, though. A system moving in from the west will bring periods of rain and widespread dense fog, especially during the morning hours.

While it won’t be a steady all-day washout, expect off-and-on showers across North and Central Jersey. An umbrella will definitely come in handy.

According to the National Weather Service, today will see rain with areas of dense fog before 10 a.m. High temperatures will reach near 43 degrees with light and variable winds.

Rain chances sit around 80%, with up to a quarter-inch of precipitation possible.

Tonight, rain is expected mainly before 10 p.m., with lingering fog through the early morning hours. Overnight lows will dip to around 35 degrees with light northeast winds.

Drive carefully in areas of fog this morning, and give yourself extra time on the roads.

Make it a great day, New Jersey.
