Middlesex County officials announced that their Department of Public Safety and Health’s Comprehensive Traffic Safety Program joined the Carteret Police Department and the Woodbridge Police Department to introduce the County’s pedestrian safety program, “Slow Down In Our Town,” to their communities over a two-week period.
The initiative focuses on reducing speeding and promoting pedestrian safety on Port Reading Road in Woodbridge, approaching from the east, the intersection of Edwin Street and Arthur Ave, and extending beyond on both roadways, officials say. 
The “Slow Down In Our Town” program brings together residents, local law enforcement, and County officials to implement a collaborative community approach to reduce dangerous driving and improve traffic safety, officials stated. 
Key elements of the initiative include:
-Lawn Sign Campaign: Lawn signs placed in targeted neighborhoods to remind drivers to reduce their speed.
-“Speed Kills” Information Cards: Educational cards distributed to residents and the local businesses on the dangers of speeding.
-Law Enforcement Participation: Police officers will conduct traffic stops, use radar to track drivers' speed, and provide drivers with “Speed Kills” information cards as educational outreach during traffic stops.
